The Best Road Trip Games

March 2, 2010

Well I think one of the most important parts of a road trip is to have a comfortable car to drive in.  A car with a lot of leg room so that everyone is comfortable.  Midway Car Rental has a wide range of SUVS that would be perfect for a long road trip with the family.  After having a comfortable car I think it is important to come prepared with some entertaining road trip games.  So I present you the top 5 road trip games:

  1. 1.        I Spy- This game someone picks something that they see, for example, a red truck.  Then everyone playing asks them questions like, “is it a person?”  Then the person answers back either yes or no until someone guesses what it is they spy.
  2. 2.       Road Trip Bingo-This game you make Bingo cards for everyone that has a variety of things you might see on a road trip (i.e. cow or a windmill) and whoever finds the most things in a row the fastest wins.  You can use pennies to mark what you find on the Bingo cards.
  3. 3.       A is for Armadillo- This game is great for exercising your memory.  The first person says “A is for” and they pick something that starts with A like apple or astronaut. And then the next person repeats what the first person says and then says “B is for” and picks something that starts with a B.  And this continues on until you get through the entire alphabet.
  4. 4.       Alphabet- The Alphabet game is when you find the letter in the alphabet in road signs and license plates.  It is played in succession so one person finds the letter A and the next would find the letter B and so on.
  5. 5.       Cow Poker- The players of the game are divided into two teams one on the left side of the car and the other team on the right side of the car.  Each side of the car looks for cows on their side and tally up how many cows they find.  The most cows wins.  If you go by a commentary on your side of the road then all the cows you tallied up goes to zero.  If you are not driving in an area with cows then you can substitute cows with gas stations or anything of your choosing.

Is There an Excusable Traffic Ticket?

February 23, 2010

When pulled over for a traffic violation by the police, most people resort to any excuse in the book to get out of getting a ticket.  Some notorious excuses include: speeding because you are running late to pick up a childand sickness requiring a rush home or to a doctor.

The question is – is there ever an excuse that is good enough to get out of a ticket?  What if a doctor tells the cop that he was rushing because he was on the way to the hospital to save a patient’s life?  It seems that the law offers little room for excuses when it comes to a ticket even if it is a physician rushing to save a life.  The truth is that a rush to the hospital may cause more injuries or death if the speeding car causes an accident.  But, if your loved one is in the hospital in dire need of your physicians’ help, would you want the doctor to be sitting at a long red light at 4:00 in the morning when there are no other cars on the road and driving at the speed limit?   Lawrence Dubin, a law professor at the University of Detroit, says that speeding maybe defensible in court if it is considered an “emergency.”

What are your thoughts?  Do you think these doctors should get tickets?
