The engine is mated to a paddle-shifted seven-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is equipped with a Panorama Roof, BlueTooth capabilities, and an ECO Start/Stop System.
Like other SL models, the 2015 SL400 features a folding hardtop capable of transforming the car from a coupe to a roadster in about 16 seconds with the push of a button. Mercedes notes that as the roof folds, the rear window pivots 180 degrees to maximize trunk space when the top is stowed.
